Peter Cook and Dudley Moore on Can We Talk 1986

31 Ocak 2010 | Chat | Etiketler: , , , , ,

Pete and Dud perform the “bloody Gretta Garbo” sketch on Joan Rivers BBC chat show from the mid eighties. A very funny rendition it is too. “A low point came in 1986 with the bbc2′s Can We Talk, a terrible chat show hosted by Joan Rivers where Cook acted the part of resident guest and supposed foil to Rivers’ supposed wit. Cook just sat there looking miserable throughout each show. The only possible benefit of the show was that it briefly re-united Cook and Moore as guests.” stabbers.truth.posiweb.net

Bernard was the working class bloke.
He may not like you, but he didn’t put a burning tyre round your head if you weren’t from his tribe.

I don’t like talking ill of the dead, but I can’t find anything nice to write about Bernard Man-c-ing. I have discovered self restraint . . . nah! He was a twat!

Cooky had to do this humiliating gig due to one too many litigations. Private Eye went tits up and he needed the cash. I admire the vicious get! What a brilliant mind. CANT!!!!

I saw this show when I was a kid… the minute Dudley cued up the Pete n’ Dud routine, Peter got animated and for the first time, looked like he genuinely enjoyed himself

Joan Rivers and Peter Cook. Doesn’t sound like a good mix.

  • 19 channel537 Says:

Joan’s a genius comedian in her own right but she let them do their thing. Anyway, who could talk over Pete and Dud in full flow. Bernard Manning was a twat. Pete could be infinitely more obsene and still be charming, witty and intelligent.
